A Taste of Greece
Savor the fabulous flavors of Greece right here in Durham, NC, at A TASTE OF GREECE on May 14 and 15, 2022. Due to the pandemic, it was not possible to host a full Durham Greek Festival this year, but the St. Barbara community is delighted to welcome one and all to A TASTE OF GREECE. Admission and parking are FREE. The event will be held rain or shine.
A portion of the proceeds to benefit relief efforts for Ukraine & Ukrainian refugees.
We’ll be featuring our most popular festival food offerings, including gyro pita wraps, spanakopita, moussaka, and dolmades, Jimmy’s Famous Hot Dogs, plus your favorite Greek pastries like baklavá, galactoboúreko (custard-filled phyllo with honey syrup), and your choice of seven other pastry delights. Rumor has it that Gussy’s Loukoumotion Food Truck (https://www.facebook.com/loukoumotion/) will also offer soft-serve ice cream and their specialty: fresh, hot, mouth-watering loukoumádes (fried dough puffs) with your choice of toppings.
All items will be available for take-out or to enjoy in our dining tents, surrounded by Greek music and the unmistakable “kefi” that ensues when good times are accompanied by great food. Kefi is one of those Greek works that defies simple translation, but you’ll know you’re feeling it when you experience that sensation of joy, spirit, mojo, excitement, passion, fun and loving life… preferably in the company of others.
