Girls on the Run Virtual 5k
Girls on the Run of the Triangle is a nonprofit that continues to offer tools to support third- to eighth-grade girls’ social, emotional and physical health during a time when our community is struggling. It’s expanding its support to the entire community with its Girls on the Run Spring 2020 Virtual Spring 5k – Run it – Walk it – Roll it – Love it!
The Girls on the Run Virtual Spring 5k allows girls and Triangle-Area community members to meet their limitless potential! Registration is free, and anyone of any gender or physical ability is invited to complete their virtual 5k (3.1 miles) anytime, anywhere, between April 25 and May 25.
Spread positive GOTR Spirit all up and down your block, neighborhood, or trail. Participants are encouraged to make cheer signs and display them during your 5k. Chalk a message on the sidewalk, cheer for you and your special running buddies, blow bubbles along the way–whatever you think will spread joy!
Be sure to snap a photo or video at your 5k (and while you’re training for it) and share it with us by tagging @gotrtriangle on Facebook and Twitter, and @gotr_triangle on Instagram, with #GOTRVirtual5K. You’re amazing and we want to share your accomplishment!!!
More than 900 girls usually participate in the Triangle Area each fall and spring season. The season concludes with a celebratory 5k event, which this Virtual 5k is replacing and expanding to the entire community.
“Our Spring 5k marks an exciting end to the season. When teams run, walk or skip across the finish line they realize they’re capable of achieving anything. Our girls and their volunteer coaches have been looking forward to this event and we regret not being able to celebrate the high fives, smiles and successes together, so we’re excited to offer this virtual option,” said Meg Pomerantz, Executive Director.
