A new crêpe restaurant just opened its doors on Franklin Street. Lovers of the French pancakes can get their fix with sweet and savory options from locally owned and operated Crêpe Traditions. Co-owners Sree Valluru and Suvidha Kovuri envision the restaurant as an alternative to crowded coffee shops and as a laid-back hangout spot for UNC students. Asked about the inspiration for the name, Sree says, “I think the name Crêpe Traditions drives home the feel of holidays, family gatherings and traditions. We want to be part of your celebrations – celebrating everyday moments, celebrating life.”
Menu standouts include the “Tar Heels” dessert crêpe (filled with chocolate chips, banana bread, ice cream, whipped cream, chocolate syrup and pecans), and the savory “PBJ & C” (filled with chicken, blueberry sauce, Thai peanut sauce, coleslaw, mozzarella and house chipotle aioli). Along with your crêpe (ranging from $6 to $9) you can enjoy Intelligentsia brand coffee, wine, beer or soda. Crêpe Traditions will also cater fresh crêpes made on-site at your next event. Or stop by the restaurant any time from 11am to 10pm Monday through Saturday.
