Thursday

“Cabaret” – all weekend – “Cabaret” is the pinnacle of PlayMakers’ summer youth conservatory, a six-week camp for high school students to develop their acting and technical theater skills. The shows that are being put on will run from July 18-28.

NC 10-by-10 – all weekend – This event represents the combined efforts of Carrboro Odyssey Stage and the Cary Playwright Forum to bring you 10 plays, each 10 minutes long. Each company involved with the festival is producing five of the plays and they’ll be presented at the ArtsCenter Thursday through Sunday at 8pm Thursday through Saturday, then 3pm on Sunday.

Movies Under the Stars – 8:30pm – Tonight’s free summer movie is “Star Wars: The Force Awakens.” Arrive early at Wallace Plaza to get the best seat under the stars.

Friday

Gallery 71 One Year Anniversary – 4pm – Come out to the one-year anniversary celebration of Gallery 71, along with the official grand opening and ribbon cutting of the Gallery 71 bar! The event will be filled with art, beer and good times all around.

Fridays on the Front Porch – 5-8pm – In this week’s Fridays on the Front Porch, The Carolina inn is having Lee Gildersleeve and the Bad Dogs performing, with food served by the Bulkogi Truck.

TGI Friday –7pm – Come out to the Southern Village Green this Friday to catch Wyatt Easterling and listen to his contemporary sound while enjoying a picnic dinner on the grass.

Art on Tap – 7-9pm – Show up at Kidzu for art on tap, where patrons have the opportunities to enjoy live performances, food, creating tassel jewelry, balloon dart paintings and much more!

Saturday

Exploring Acrylic Pours Workshop  12-2pm – Students at this workshop will receive instructions for preparing acrylic paint to complete acrylic pours. Taught by artist Debi Drew, students will learn two pour techniques then be given a chance to complete three pours themselves.

American Graffiti – 8:30pm – This installment in Southern Village’s weekly summer movie series is “American Graffiti,” a George Lucas-directed movie starring the likes of Ron Howard and Richard Dreyfus. This film is surely not one to miss.

Sunday

From Seed To Sapling – 2:30-4pm – Join the garden director of the North Carolina Botanical Garden, Dr. Damon Waitt, and his special guests to learn about the past, present and the future of The North Carolina Botanical Garden. Following the event, there will be a reception in the Reeves Auditorium on the grounds of the gardens.

Sunday Concert Series: The Outboards – 6pm – In this week’s chapter in Southern Village’s Summer Concert Series features a performance by the band The Outboards. So bring your family, friends, and a picnic and have a ball at this free event!
