Bill Melega Lecture – Thursday, 6-10pm – Honor the past and head over to the Varsity Theatre to listen to this nationally-recognized educator and historian for the 100th anniversary of America’s entrance into the First World War. Bill Melega will present his lecture “Over There, Over There! American in WWI” as he recounts the historical past.
West End Poetry Festival – Thursday-Friday, 6:30pm; Saturday, 12pm – Join over 50 poets for a huge poetry celebration surrounding the theme of the Renaissance. This event will include days of readings, workshops and panels as poets of different styles, ages, race and ethnicities come share their love of poetry. Event times vary each day.
Sense and Sensibility – Thursday-Saturday, 7:30pm; Sunday, 2pm – Laugh and enjoy the romantic nature of the 19th century by coming to PlayMakers Repertory Company‘s production of Kate Hamill’s version of one of Jane Austen’s classic novels.
Yep Roc 20 – Thursday-Saturday, 8pm – Join Hillsborough’s Yep Roc Records at this three-night music extravaganza celebrating the 20th year of the artist-driven label at Cat’s Cradle and featuring favorites like Nick Lowe, Dave Alvin and Phil Alvin and Los Straightjackets.
Pittsboro Antique Fair – Friday-Saturday, 8am-5pm; Sunday, 9am-4pm – Come to the Alpha Control Center for this family-friendly 5th annual event. Shop and look at vintage and antique home decorations, as well as jewelry, art, pottery, books and collectibles. There’s a suggested donation of $5 for adults and a portion of the proceeds will go to the Chatham County Habitat for Humanity.
TerraVita’s Grand Tasting on the Green – Saturday, 1-4:30pm – Featuring more than 40 chefs and artisans from across the state and over 80 sustainability produced beverages, this event at The Village Green at Southern Village closes out TerraVita Food & Drink Festival for the eighth year in a row. Tickets for designated drivers are $75 and tickets for all-inclusive are $90.
