Published by UNC Press, this new book is an easy-to-read introduction to the nation’s first public university. Authors Nicholas Graham and Cecelia Moore will discuss and celebrate Tarheel traditions and stories that appear in the book at 6 p.m. on Crowdcast with Flyleaf Books.
Virtual Yoga
The Studio at A Step to Health hosts a gentle flow and restorative yoga class with AnnMarie Mello-Morris via Zoom at 5:30 p.m. This is designed to relieve muscle stiffness and relax the mind. Check out its website for pricing.

Be Loud! ’20
Unable to host its popular annual fundraising concert at Cat’s Cradle this year because of the COVID-19 pandemic, the Be Loud! Sophie Foundation celebrates its past accomplishments and raise funds to keep the UNC AYA Cancer Program strong with a virtual event. Be Loud! 20 is a week-long online event with videos of past concerts and special live interviews posted on Be Loud!’s Facebook page starting Aug. 24, capped off with livestreamed sets of past live concerts Friday and Saturday. The event is asking viewers and past ticket buyers to donate in the amount of a weekend pass ($40) or any amount they feel comfortable giving.

Love & Valor
Hillsborough Arts Council presents Burlington-based band Love & Valor as part of its virtual Last Fridays Summer Concert Series. Tune in live on HAC’s Facebook at 7 p.m. to enjoy Americana-flavored folk music.
Saturday
High Heels and Hard Hats Fashion Show
Habitat for Humanity of Orange County goes virtual with this sixth annual fashion show. Guests can watch local celebrities strut their stuff on the runway, and enter into raffles to win specially curated baskets, each worth at least $250. Regular tickets include a link to view the show, and VIP tickets include a link and a special goodie bag. Proceeds from the event benefit building affordable housing for a local family in need.
Ellis Dyles & the Shambles
Enjoy a free performance from the comfort of your home at 7 p.m. with Ellis Dyles & the Shambles hosted by Cat’s Cradle. The band’s eccentric songs blend old-time influences like early New Orleans jazz with Piedmont murder ballads.
The Tasting Room
Try food truck Cilantro Mexican Cuisine at the Tasting Room at Botanist and Barrel from 1-6 p.m. There will be nachos, tacos, and of course, cider.
Sunday
Village Green Music Series
Presented by Pinnacle Financial Partners, the virtual Village Green Music Series hosts The GoodLoves at 7 p.m. on Facebook Live. The Durham-based pop-rock band plays both originally-written songs and covers.
Garden Concert
Grab your lawn chairs to see singer, composer and jazz pianist Lydia Salett Dudley perform at the garden of Ali and Mort Givens at 7 p.m. The Saratoga Grill offers a special picnic menu for the event, and orders will be delivered to the venue.
