All Weekend

Colorfull – through September 23 – If you are looking for a pop of color this weekend, look no further than the newest exhibit at Hillsborough Gallery of the Arts, Colorfull. Described as a show that will “knock your socks off,” it features various works from artists Chris Graebner, Lolette Guthrie and Pringle Teetor.

The Contemporaries: Hot Takes – through October 5 – Hosted by Chapel Hill’s LIGHT Art + Design, this exhibit is open weekly Wednesday through Saturday and features the work of 20 different artists.

Paperhand Puppet Intervention – Saturday, Sunday and Monday, 7pm – Enjoy this puppet theatre company’s 19th annual summer show, “In the Heart of Fire,” a handcrafted puppet pageant showcasing unique, giant papier-mâché puppets complete with live music at Battle Park and Forest Theatre. Pack a picnic, bring the whole family and prepare to be amazed!

Friday

Fridays on the Front Porch – 5-8pm – In this week’s installment of The Carolina Inn’s popular end-of-the-week celebration, there will be music from the Big Fat Gap, as well as food available from Bam Pow Chow and Hibachi Xpress food truck.

Weaver Street After Hours – 5-7pm – Relax on the patio at the Southern Village location with classic country music from The Nashvilifiers.

UNC Volleyball – 6:30pm – Come out and watch the Tar Heels take on the University of Greensboro Spartans in the Carolina Classic tournament. Carmichael Arena will be hosting the team’s first home matchup of the year.

Hillsborough Art Walk Last Fridays – 6:30-9:30pm – This weekly summertime event has something for everyone, whether it be art, food or music. Bring the family to the Historic Orange County Courthouse Lawn for food vendors, local artists and a free concert featuring Burlington’s Second Set band.

Outdoor Movie on the Village Green – 8-10pm – Come see “Solo: A Star Wars Story” under the entire galaxy on The Lumina Theater‘s big outdoor screen in Southern Village. Don’t forget to bring blankets, low chairs and coolers (but no glass)! Event rescheduled from August 18.

Saturday

Movie in the Park – 7:45pm – Bring your blankets and lawn chairs to River Park in Hillsborough for a showing of the family film “Wonder.” Admission is free and the rain date is Saturday, September 1.

Sunday

Carrboro Jazz Brunch – 11am-1pm – In the mood for jazz music to complete your relaxing Sunday? This weekend, Weaver Street Market‘s weekly summer series features gypsy jazz band Onyx Club Boys.

Sundays in Hillsborough – through November 4, 2-5pm – Enjoy live music in the center of historic Hillsborough on the Old Courthouse lawn courtesy of former America’s Got Talent contestant Adam Lee Decker.

Concert on the Green – 6-8pm – Listen to the sounds of summer with this week’s iteration of Southern Village’s weekly summer concert series, featuring Grateful Dead tribute band Better Off Dead! Picnics are encouraged.
