Ghanaian artist, Jojo Abot, performs on Thursday at Memorial Hall

Systems and Cycles Exhibit – September 5 – October 7 – Artists Luna Lee Ray and Shelly Hehenberger collaborate to address the themes of geological and biological systems and cycles in this powerful body on display at FRANK Gallery considering time, change, mutation and variation.

Author Talks with Alan Gratz and John Claude Bemis – Thursday, 6-7pm – Come join two authors discussing their middle grade novels at Flyleaf Books. (For a preview, check out page 32 of our new September/October issue for an interview with John Claude Bemis.)

Block Party and Show at Memorial Hall – Thursday, 6-9pm – Come see Ghanaian artist, Jojo Abot, and her vibrant colors on stage at Carolina Performing Arts. Kick it off with a block party before the performance with food trucks and live music.

2nd Friday ArtWalkFriday, 6-9pm – Come and enjoy the art scene while exploring business and art venues. Featured events will include student-led tours at the Ackland Museum, Cinc Hayes Art Exhibit at Dwell Real Estate and the opening reception of September Exhibits at FRANK Gallery.

“The Little Mermaid” Movie at River Park – Friday, 7:30pm – Enjoy a Disney-classic movie fifteen minutes after sunset. The movie will be free and open to the public.

Big Book Sale – Friday, 3-5pm (members only); Saturday, 10am-5pm; Sunday, 11am-3pm – Restock your bookshelves by visiting the Chapel Hill Public Library. A wide range of genres will be available for sale and on Sunday bring your own bag to fill for $5.

Hillsborough Bluegrass Festival – Saturday, 2-7pm – The annual festival is back with refreshments, food and performances at Moorefields. Tickets are $15 per person with teens 13-17 only $10 and children 12 and under for free.

Outdoor Movie: “The Sound of Music” – Saturday, 7:45pm – Village Green will hold its final movie showing. Come enjoy a movie classic for only $5.

Orange County’s Dog Swim – Sunday, 12-4pm – Bring your dog for a swim for $5 at the A.D. Clark Pool at Hargraves Community Center.

The Bazaar Fall Season Market – Sunday, 12-5pm – Enjoy and shop handmade goods from over 30 local makers at Carrboro Town Commons.
