All About America – through Sept. 11 – This exhibition of photographer Burk Uzzle’s work, held at Ackland Art Museum, spans 50 years of iconic American moments, including Martin Luther King Jr.’s funeral, the Woodstock music festival, and anti-Vietnam War demonstrations, as well as more recent studies of the country’s social landscape.

Artist Talk: Guests from “All that Glitters” – Thursday, 6 pm – Join four North Carolina artists that aim, through different mediums, to reflect the dazzle and radiance of natural forms, as they discuss their work and processes at FRANK Gallery.

Charles Latham at The Station – Thursday, 7:30 pm – Visit the Carrboro venue for a unique blend of folk, pop and country from Charles Latham. Joining him are multi-instramentalist Omar Ruiz-Lopez and special guest, plus Reid Johnson (formerly of Schooner).

Movies Under the Stars – Thursday, 8:30 p.m. – The summer sci-fi movie series wraps up with Space Jam, a basketball adventure starring former Tar Heel Michael Jordan and several Looney Tunes characters. The screening begins after dark on roof of Wallace Parking Deck at 150 Rosemary St.; popcorn is provided, bring your own chairs and blankets.

Fridays on the Front Porch – Friday, 5-8 p.m. – Join The Carolina Inn for an evening of music from Holland Brothers and food from the Porchetta and Cousins Maine Lobster food trucks.

Paperhand Puppet Intervention’s Summer Show – Friday-Sunday, 7pm – This year’s show is titled “The Beautiful Beast” and promises to be dazzling as it highlights creatures and monsters that are brought to life with the help of the team’s incredible puppet artistry. Arrive early to Forest Theatre for a seat.

How Roast Determines Flavor – Saturday, 11 am – This workshop at Carrboro Coffee Roasters will teach attendees about the chemical process behind roasting, including the impact on caffeine and flavor, and how choosing the right roast can enhance your home-brewed coffee.

Author Brad Weiss at Midway Kitchen – Saturday, 7 pm – Stop by Midway Community Kitchen for an evening with “Real Pigs” author Brad Weiss, who will discuss his search for authenticity in food, and how that search led him on a journey through the Piedmont’s culture. This event is hosted by Flyleaf Books, and local beer and BBQ will be available for purchase.

Handmade Parade Puppet-Making Workshop – Sunday, 1-3 pm – The Hillsborough Arts Council’s first workshop for the biannual Handmade Parade will teach adults the skills needed to participate in the parade, from creating a team to choosing a theme. Attendees will also receive instruction on the techniques behind designing and constructing giant lightweight puppets.

Sundays in Hillsborough – Sunday, 1-5pm – Come enjoy a concert from the Mason Lovette Acoustic Experience, carriage rides and historic site tours at Concert Lawn in downtown Hillsborough.
