Artist Talk at FRANK – Thursday, 6-8 p.m. – Join FRANK for an evening with artist Grayson Bowen as they explore his “Brushes for Life.” Don’t miss this one-of-a-kind artistic experience!

Southern Village Summer Concert Series – Thursday, 7-9 p.m. – Come take in the cool sounds of Mike Babyak: Bluesy Guitarist at the Village Green stage for the latest edition to this summer concert series.

Poetry Reading and Open Mic at Flyleaf – Thursday, 7-8:30 p.m. – Head to Flyleaf Books to hear professional and amateur poetry alike. Start the evening off with readings from Eric Nelson and Bill Blackley from their wide range of published works. Then stay a while to hear local poetry from your neighbors.

10 by 10 in the Triangle – Thursday, Friday and Saturday, 8-10 p.m.; Sunday, 3-5 p.m. – Take some time to enjoy the international, original plays from The ArtsCenter. Over 1,100 scripts were sent in this year for the chance to be performed during the 15th annual festival, narrowed down to the final 10 new theatrical shorts. Final performances will be July 21-24.

Movies Under the Stars – Thursday, 8:30-10 p.m. – Take a trip into the unknown for “Star Trek” (2009). Bring your blanket or chairs downtown to Wallace Deck for a night under the stars as you journey through time and space.

Fridays on the Front Porch – Friday, 5-8 p.m. – Kick off your weekend with live music by Acoustic Manner on the Carolina Inn lawn. Indulge yourself in the local food truck, D’Burritos, as you relax in the heart of Chapel Hill.

Dennis Cash at Johnny’s – Friday, 6-9 p.m. – Johnny’s Gone Fishing hosts American Old Time Country Hall of Fame member Dennis Cash. This rich and vibrant display of original and traditional folk music is inspired by the roots of North Carolina bluegrass and gospel.

The Secret Show at The Station – Friday, 7 p.m. – Come down to Carrboro for the 2nd installment of the Secret Show Series at The Station. Experience Diali Cissokho and Kaira Ba’s infectious sound drawing inspiration from West African dance roots.

Rebekah Todd at Bynum Front Porch – Friday, 7-9 p.m. – Local homegrown artist Rebekah Todd joins the five-piece The Odyssey with bass, electric guitar, keys and drums to produce the infectious blues and folk music. Come down to Bynum Front Porch for a night of blues and soul.

Tomato Festival – Saturday, 9 a.m.-12 p.m. – Chapel Hill Farmers’ Market presents all the best of local produce with special attention to tomatoes this Saturday. Come out with the community to experience the spread of tomatoes available.

Triangle Food Tour – Saturday, 2:15-5:30 p.m. – Have guests in town or just want to have a different foodie experience? Register now for a walk though the local establishments downtown.

Star Families: Summer Skies – Saturday, 3:30-5 p.m. – Stay cool indoors and explore the skies of astronomy with the whole family at Morehead Planetarium. This special program unites children and parents in learning about the stars.

Open Mic Night at Johnny’s – Saturday, 6:30-9 p.m. – Bring your originals and covers out to Johnny’s Gone Fishing for the monthly mic night. Don’t miss this chance to perform in front of this great crowd and hear unique music from your local community.

National Ice Cream Day Celebration – Sunday, 1-5 p.m. – Bring the whole family out to Maple View Country Store for an afternoon of fun. Pull up a chair for music by Back Porch Orchestra, get your face painted, maybe grab some food from Al’s Burger Shack, and of course, get some special ice cream!

Music in the Galleries – Sunday, 2-3 p.m. – Surround yourself in the music of the 60’s with The Bluegrass Battleship as you tour the installment “All About America” by Burk Uzzle in the Ackland Art Museum.

Southern Village Summer Concert Series – Sunday, 6-9 p.m. – Grab a seat with a good view of the Village Green stage for music from Laura Ridgeway Trio: Acoustic Americana & Food Truck Rodeo. This talented trio blends the hip beats of pop with blues, swing, jazz and even some originals that make it an event for all ages!
