Weekend at a Glance: Cinema, Celebration and Cupcakes

Lavender enthusiasts will flock to the annual Lavender Harvest Celebration on Sunday.

Artist Talk and Exhibition — Thursday, 6-8pm — Hear from three artists and catch a sneak peak of their latest pieces at the FRANK Gallery. Artists Catherine Gregory and Linda Prager are joined by artist Marguerite Jay Gignoux from France for the evening, and for an opening reception and celebration Friday, 6-9pm.

Papermakers — Friday, 6-9pm — View work by seven different artists at the LIGHT Art+Design gallery’s opening reception for its latest exhibition: “Papermakers: Art and Design In and Out of Paper.”

Tiki Party — Saturday, 4-8pm — Head down to Fair Game Beverage Co. for their Second Annual Tiki Party. The distillery is celebrating its third year with a fundraiser for Abundance NC, complete with cocktails, food trucks and family fun.

Men in Black — Saturday, 7:30-9:30pm — Grab a blanket and head to the Southern Village Green for this week’s Movie by Moonlight. Admission is free for this PG-13 adventure-comedy.

Lavender Harvest Celebration — Sunday, 9am-4pm — Inhale the sweet, soothing scent of lavender at the 14th Annual Lavender Harvest Celebration at Sunshine Lavender Farm in Hurdle Mills. Take a tour of the farm, learn from expert gardeners and beekeepers, enjoy treats from Locopops, The Picnic Basket and Honeygirl Meadery, craft a lavender basket, and more. RSVP to attend.

Cupcakes and Cocktails Benefit — Sunday, 2:30-5pm — Taste unlimited cupcakes, listen to live music, enjoy a wine wall, and more with a ticket to this benefit for the Orange Country Rape Crisis Center. The event is held at Tandem in Carrboro, and tickets are $40 online by June 7 and, if available, $50 at the door.
