Tom Spleth: The Amalgamation Project – Thursday-Saturday, 12-5pm – It’s your last chance to catch this solo show at LIGHT Art + Design features the paintings of Tom Spleth from the Amalgamation Project, as well as paintings from his residency in 2015 at the Golden Foundation. Artist talk & closing reception to take place Saturday, 3pm.

Second Thursday Poetry Reading and Open Mic – Thursday, 7pm – Featured poets Jonathan K. Rice and Beth Ann Cagle will read for 20 minutes each, followed by poetry open mic at Flyleaf Books.

Glenn Jones – Thursday, 8pm – Lyrical guitar and banjo player Glenn Jones will make an appearance at Nightlight. He’s known for his story-telling ability through his music so you’re in for a treat.

High Heels and Hard Hats Fashion Show – Friday, 7-10pm – Benefiting Habitat for Humanity of Orange County, this fashion show featuring local celebrities such as former Chapel Hill Mayor Howard Lee and author Missy Julian Fox is sure to be a hit. We are also super fans of the event’s emcee, Chapel Hill Magazine‘s Andrea Griffith Cash.

Spring Awakening presented by Pauper Players – Friday, 7pm – Join the UNC’s Pauper Players at The ArtsCenter in Carrboro as they put on the Tony Award-winning rock musical “Spring Awakening”.

Spelling Bee at DSI Comedy Theater –  Friday, 7pm – Study your dictionary and be ready for a night of laughs at this event sponsored by UNC Humanities and Flyleaf Books.

Lil Buck, A Jookin’ Jam Session – Friday & Saturday, 8pm – Viral street dance sensation Lil Buck has performed with the likes of Yo-Yo Ma, the New York City Ballet and Cirque Du Soleil. His energetic, intricate and innovative jam session coming to Memorial Hall is sure to amaze.

Eleanor Friedberger – Friday, 8:30pm – Having just released her third solo record “New View,” this New York musician’s performance at Cat’s Cradle is one not-to-miss.

Trunk Show at Sofia’s Boutique – Saturday – Out shopping for spring? Stop by the Carr Mill Mall boutique during their Angelrox trunk show.

Hillsborough Arts & Crafts Show – Saturday, 10am-4pm – Get a taste of all the crafts and art Hillsborough has to offer at this show featuring 37 vendors selling jewelry, paintings, textiles and soaps, as well as food, beer, wine and ice cream.

Historic Roads Hike at Moorefields – Saturday, 10am – Soak up a bit of Hillsborough history during this hike through the woods surrounding Moorefields.

Sara Foster Cookbook Signing – Saturday, 12-2pm – Local food legend Sara Foster will be at Southern Season this Saturday for a cookbook signing of “Foster’s Market Favorites.”

Melanie Conklin Reading and Discussion – Saturday, 2pm – Flyleaf Books will host Melanie Conklin as she discusses her debut middle grade novel “Counting Thyme.”

Jean Anderson, “Crisps, Cobblers, Custards & Creams” – Saturday, 2pm – Enjoy an afternoon of tea and tastes with James Beard Cookbook Hall of Fame’s Jean Anderson at McIntyre’s Books in Fearrington Village in celebration of her newest book full of home-style desserts.

2016 Carolina Football Spring Game – Saturday, 3pm – Free admission and events for fans of all ages including interactive games for kids during the Fan Fest (1:30pm) and food trucks like Al’s Burger Shack and Big C Waffles.

N.C. Stories: The Friday Center’s 25th Anniversary Celebration – Saturday, 6pm – Listen to readings by authors such as UNC Associate Professor Randall Kenan and Sheri Castle, enjoy dinner and a concert to benefit The Friday Adult Learner Scholarship Fund.

Chase Rice, Back to College Tour – Saturday, 8:30pm – Former UNC linebacker Chase Rice heads back to his alma mater for this special concert series. Check him out at Carmichael Arena this weekend.

Touch a Truck Fundraiser – Sunday, 12-4pm – This is a chance for kids to explore vehicles in a safe, supervised environment, just down the street at University Place.

Abigail Washburn and Friends – Sunday, 2pm – Don’t miss this inventive singer, songwriter and clawhammer banjo player at Carolina Performing Arts.
