Make the most of your weekend by visiting Morehead Planetarium and Science Center and jamming out at live concerts

Twilight Thursdays 
Avoid the heat and pack something to eat when visiting the North Carolina Botanical Garden for Twilight Thursday from 5 to 8 p.m., rain or shine. Explore display gardens including the Children’s Wonder Garden, Carnivorous Plant Collection and more. Enjoy a picnic lunch at the designated picnic area or seating arrangements found within the garden. Masks are required indoors. 

Pop-up Yoga Class
Monarch Movement Company offers this pop-up core-focused yoga class via Zoom, taught by Rebecca Anderson. Registration is required and the class begins at 6 p.m.


Compose Carolina 
Carolina Performing Arts and the UNC Department of Music present the first performance during this second annual concert series, featuring the premier of original works based around the theme “In The Now,” at noon. UNC alumni Trinity Vélez-Justo, Alex Van Gils and Stewart Engart will debut solo compositions while a group of current students in the composition program will reinterpret a Greek tale. 

Curator’s Conversation: Introduction to “Vision’s of Venice” 
Take a trip to Italy from the comforts of home with the Ackland Art Museum. Dana E. Cowen discusses concepts from James McNeill Whistler’s “Visions of Venice” via Zoom from 3:30 to 4:30 p.m. Registration is required. 

Fridays On The Front Porch
Counter Clockwise String Band performs and food trucks the Corner Venezuelan and Mesas NC offer traditional Venezuelan and Salvadoran menu options at this Fridays On The Front Porch concert at The Carolina Inn from 5 to 8 p.m.

Disney Trivia 
Join the Orange County Public Library via Zoom for Disney-themed trivia from 7 to 8 p.m. Registration is required. 

Live Music at Vecino
Join Andrew Kasab for a night of folk music as he plays the harp guitar at Vecino Brewing Co. from 7 to 9 p.m.  


Music at Market – Pickard Mountain
Browse locally-made crafts, produce, gifts and baked treats while Pickard Mountain provides live entertainment from 10 a.m. to noon during the weekly Chapel Hill Farmers Market at 201 S. Estes Drive.

Family Farm Day 
The North Carolina Down Syndrome Alliance hosts a Family Farm Day at Strouds Creek Farm in Hillsborough from 10 a.m. to noon. Activities include all aspects of farm fun, from relaxing on hammocks to interacting with animals. Registration is required. 

Viewings at the Morehead Planetarium and Science Center
Stop by the Morehead Planetarium and Science Center to view one or more of four educational planetarium shows: Magic Tree House Space Mission (10 a.m. to noon), Mysteries of Your Brain (noon to 2 p.m.), We Are Stars (2 to 4 p.m.), and Carolina Skies (4 to 6 p.m.). Masks and tickets are required. 

Live Music at The Honeysuckle Tea House
Choose from an extensive tea and coffee menu or try a draft mead at The Honeysuckle Tea House while singer and guitarist Emily Musolino performs from 5 to 8 p.m.

Hiss Golden Messenger
Led by songwriter M.C. Taylor, Durham-based band Hiss Golden Messenger performs in a livestream presented by Cat’s Cradle. The show starts at 9:30 p.m., and tickets are required.


Sundays at Sundown 
The Pagan Hellcats perform during this live outdoor concert series at the Southern Village Green at 8 p.m.
