School’s Out Gelato Party – Join La Vita Dolce to kick off summer vacation with a self-serve gelato topping bar, patio games, raffle drawings and music.

Movies Under the Stars – The Chapel Hill Downtown Partnership kicks of its summer movie series this weekend with a showing of “Spiderman: Homecoming” at Wallace Plaza.


2nd Friday ArtWalk – Enjoy an opening reception for “Layered Lives” with music from Shark Quest at The ArtsCenter, then head to Ackland Art Museum to explore the newly opened exhibition “The Outwin: American Portraiture” while enjoying a drink from Top of the Hill‘s pop-up bar.

Songs from the Circle 9 – The ArtsCenter presents a celebration of the best in classic American folk and bluegrass. Featuring local guitarist Danny Gotham and a variety of other musicians, the annual event pays homage to the iconic album “Will the Circle be Unbroken.”


Lavender Harvest Celebration – Take a tour of Sunshine Lavender Farm during its annual celebration of blooms. Learn how to plant, harvest and preserve the herb, plus shop handmade lavender items.

“Grease” – Rock and groove like it’s the 50s as Grease returns to the screen at the Village Green for a 40th anniversary showing. Movie starts at sunset.

Just Another Lynching – Award-winning puppeteer Jeghetto confronts the racism and injustice that is deeply rooted in our nation’s foundation in a puppetry show. It will be followed by a conversation on race relations in our community.

My Typewriter and I Write a Book – Join a discussion with award-winning panelists about how changes in the way we write, from handwriting to typewriters to computers, have impacted writing and publishing.


Virginia Willis: Secrets of the Southern Table – The popular chef and cookbook author will be at Fearrington Village to share the secrets of her well-known Southern recipes and the culinary influencers who are shaping Southern cuisine.
