Take a tour of the beautiful flowers and plants at the N.C. Botanical Garden during Saturday’s Spring Native Plant Sale & Festival.

THURSDAY

VegFest on the Green – Southern Village is partnering with Triangle VegFest to bring the celebration of plant-based diets to the Village Green once a month through September. Rock out to local bands and check out a variety of vegetarian foods and products.

FRIDAY

Second Friday ArtWalk – Find out what’s happening at nearly 30 local art galleries and vendors. Special events this month include an art game show at Ackland Art Museum and a meet-and-greet with pottery artist Frumet Raskin-Miller at WomanCraft.
SATURDAY
Hike & Paint – Retreat into the woods of Carrboro with The ArtsCenter during its last Hike & Paint event of the spring. After a morning hike, participants will return to the classroom to learn about the Impressionist movement and create an abstract painting based on their experience.
A Celebration of Moms – Take a morning for yourself to enjoy coffee and conversation with other parents at Southern Village, hosted by Fit4Mom. New clients can enroll in Stroller Strides classes for free, and the first 10 people to RSVP will be entered to win a free month of exercise.
Art Show & Plant Swap – A collective of seven local artists are putting their works, which range from paintings and sculptures to jewelry and garden art, on display at the Luna Lee Ray Studio in honor of Mother’s Day. While you’re there, leave a plant or take one for free.
Spring Native Plant Sale & Festival – The N.C. Botanical Garden and other local nurseries are selling plants native to our area at the garden’s annual celebration, which will continue on Sunday. While you’re there, take a a tour of the garden and enjoy live music, food trucks, kids activities and a visit from UNC‘s Ramses Jr.
“Bringing the News to Chapel Hill” – Join author and historian Thomas Jepson at the Chapel Hill Public Library to learn about the unheralded but essential work of women telegraph operators in the 19th and 20th centuries.
Community Fashion Show – See local celebrities like Chapel Hill Police Chief Chris Blue and Senator Valerie Foushee hit the runway and raise awareness for important causes at the Hargraves Community Center.
Bazaar in Chapel Hill – Local makers converge at this inaugural celebration of handmade crafts and creations at 140 West Plaza. Listen to Selector B Steady‘s signature vinyl sound and grab a bite and a drink from vendors including Merry Franksters, Baozi, Boro Beverage and Carrboro Coffee Roasters.

SUNDAY
Mother’s Day & Graduation Brunch – Celebrate your family’s matriarch or recent grad at The Cloth Mill at Eno River‘s annual brunch buffet and dessert bar. For an extra celebratory feel, add bottomless mimosas or the Bloody Mary bar.
Mother’s Day Tea – Spend a few hours with mom in the beautiful gardens of Fearrington Village for this special edition of Fearrington’s Afternoon Tea. Refreshments will include loose-leaf teas, classic tea sandwiches, pastries and jams, all made at The Fearrington House Restaurant.
