Earthworks Opening Reception – Friday, 6-9pm – Admire the art of Garry Childs, Chris Graebner and Jude Lobe at the Hillsborough Gallery of Arts Earthworks exhibit’s opening reception. And stick around for bluesy Americana soul-infused music by Adrian Drake during Last Fridays.

Freight Train Blues Music Series – Friday, 6:30-8:30pm – Come listen to Cool John Ferguson and The Branchettes at the Carrboro Town Commons for the second concert of this music series, plus food trucks and local libations.

La La Land – Saturday, 8:30pm – Southern Village presents this Oscar winner as part of the outdoor Movies on Market series.

Book Launch Party – Sunday, 2pm – Emily Buehler launches her new book “Somewhere and Nowhere” describing her bicycle journey from New Jersey to Oregon at Purple Crow Bookstore in Hillsborough.

JAWSFest 2017 – Sunday, noon-Monday, 2am – Dum dum, dum dum! You know what’s coming: the annual celebration and screening of JAWS including a JAWS-themed dog costume contest at Beer Study, drink specials and the actual screening of the movie at The Baxter, musical entertainment surrounding Local 506 and food trucks lined up to feed you in Al’s parking lot.

Open Farm Day – Monday, 11am-4pm – Admission to 1870 Farm is free for all ages and no reservations required. There is a smorgasbord of activity – gem mining, pony rides, Maple View Creamery ice cream and food trucks. (Gem bags will be $8 each, pony rides are $5 happening from noon until 2pm and the tractor hay ride will be $2 per person.) Grab the family and get outdoors and on the farm this Memorial Day.

Memorial Day Fish Fry with Crook’s and Al’s – Monday, 6-8pm – Crook’s Corner and Al’s Burger Shack host a fish fry at Crook’s with oysters, shrimp, good ole hushpuppies and other seafood favorites, plus shag music from Liquid Pleasure and a cash bar.
