Carolina Ballet Nutcracker

Don Gallardo – Thursday, 7pm – Nashville-based singer-songwriter Don Gallardo will be performing at The Cave, with special guest Whit Wright from American Aquarium. Gallardo, who Rolling Stone called “one of the country and Americana scene’s true journeymen,” will be showcasing his critically acclaimed newest album Hickory. Fans of folk or country music shouldn’t miss this talented artist!

LIGHT Art Opening – Friday, 6pm-9pm – Come out to the LIGHT Art+Design Gallery at Greenbridge as they hold their opening reception for their newest art exhibit, Industry. The gallery showcases work by contemporary artists who focus on sustainable designs.
Festival of the Society Tree – Saturday, 9am-3pm; Sunday, noon-3pm – Grab a big bowl of chili and shop around for some handcrafted gifts – from pottery and quilts to potted herbs and more – at St. Matthew’s Episcopal Church’s annual event supporting local charities.
Christmas Holiday Shoppe – Saturday, 9am-4pm – Shop for everyone on your list at this craft show – complete with raffle, bake sale and candy cane coffee bar – at St. Thomas More Catholic Church, supporting St. Thomas More Catholic School.
Clayworks Annual Holiday Pottery Sale – Saturday, 10am-4pm – Give a handcrafted gift with practicality from North Carolina ClayWorks Potters Guild’s annual sale at University Place.
Chatham Artists Guild 24th Annual Studio Tour Saturday, 10am-5pm; Sunday, noon-5pm – Visit the studios of 53 outstanding artists during one of the oldest studio tours in the state.
Elf Fair – Saturday, 11am-5pm – Over 40 local vendors selling handmade gifts, jewelry, bath and body products, fine art and more are expected at the 10th annual Elf Fair, held at The ArtsCenter.
The Nutcracker – Saturday, 2pm & 8pm; Sunday, 2pm – Carolina Ballet brings this classic fantasy to life at Memorial Hall with beautiful sets, a live orchestra and more than 100 performers. Tickets start at $49.
Hillsborough Holiday Parade and Tree Lighting – Saturday, 4:45pm – Start the season with a parade through downtown Hillsborough and stick around to watch the town’s tree light up.
Rishi Salon & Spa Holiday Open House – Saturday, 5pm – Join the folks down at Rishi Salon & Spa as they raise money for Chapel Hill’s HomeStart Residential Facility for Homeless Women and Children. Art from local artist Sudie Rakusin will be featured, raffles will be held and free manicures and massages will be given out, so don’t miss this awesome event!
A Classic Country Christmas – Saturday, 8pm – This celebration of Christmas music will include old time, country and bluegrass style tunes at The ArtsCenter. Tickets are $25.
Will and Jan McFarlane Concert – Saturday, 8pm – The Hillsborough Arts Council is holding a Parlor Concert for Nashville’s Musician’s Hall of Fame inductee Will McFarlane, and his wife, Jan. Come to the home of Bill and Diff Whitmore, at 125 West Queen Street in Hillsborough, to experience this talented musical couple at their best! Tickets are available online or at the Hillsborough Arts Council Gallery and Gift Shop.
The Village Band – Sunday, 2pm – Get grooving to your favorite tunes played by Chapel Hill and Carrboro’s community concert band at this free event at University Place.
