Downtown Pop Up Farmers’ Market – Thursdays through October 27, 3:30-5:30pm – Try saying “popular produce pop up” three times… The Chapel Hill Farmers’ Market brings back its downtown mini market at the 140 West Plaza (at the intersection of Church Street and Franklin Street) featuring many of the same vendors from Mystery Brewing and Chappell’s Peaches and Apples.
Meet the Photographer: Burk Uzzle – Thursday, 5:30-6:30pm – Listen to famous North Carolina photojournalist, Burk Uzzle, speak to curator Patricia Leighten about his experiences as a photographer and the exhibit, “All About America.”
An Evening for Italy – Thursday and Friday, 5:30-9pm – Visit Il Palio Ristorante to taste Chef Teddy Diggs’ exquisite cuisine and raise money to help victims from the earthquake that hit Central Italy last week. All profits from the event will be donated to the Italian Red Cross. Reservations recommended.
Fridays on the Front Porch – Friday, 5-8pm – Join The Carolina Inn for an evening of music from Big Fat Gap and food from local food trucks Chirba Chirba and Heavenly Smoke.
Paperhand Puppet Intervention’s Summer Show – Friday-Monday, 7pm – This year’s show is titled “The Beautiful Beast” and promises to be dazzling as it highlights creatures and monsters that are brought to life with the help of the team’s incredible puppet artistry. This is the last weekend that the show will be at Forest Theatre, so arrive early for a seat.
UNC Men’s Soccer – Friday, 7:30pm – The UNC men’s soccer team faces NC State at Fetzer Field. Hopefully, this will be the beginning of a great soccer season for the Tar Heels. Tickets: $5.
Eclipse – The Pink Floyd Experience – Friday, 8pm – Watch this tribute band perform some iconic Pink Floyd songs under the gleaming lights of Cat’s Cradle’s stage. They will play after the opener Abacab: The Music of Genesis, another tribute band. Tickets: $10.
ProgDay: The Outdoor Festival of International Progressive Rock – Saturday and Sunday – Head out to the Storybook Farm stage to witness bands from across the country and world, including Deus Ex Machina, Discipline and Bent Knee. This 22-year-old event will feature a diverse collection of progressive bands . Tickets: $35-$150.
UNC Women’s Volleyball – Saturday, 6:30pm – Inside Carmichael Arena, the UNC women’s volleyball team will play against TCU. The arena will likely be filled with rallying fans and a sea of Carolina blue at one of the team’s first home games of the season.
Love is Out: A Music Play – Saturday 8-9:30pm – El Fuego Early Music Ensemble will put on this music play at of Chapel of the Cross. Expect lively performances and Spanish-based music. Tickets: $5-$15.
Homebrew for Hunger – Sunday, 1-5pm – Taste over 100 beers from 35 local homebrewers and craft breweries to help alleviate hunger. Proceeds from this event will go to PORCH, a hunger relief organization that collects and distributes food to Chapel Hill and Carrboro families living in poverty. Tickets: $30.
Southern Village Summer Outdoor Concert Series – Sunday, 6pm – Sit on the lawn at Southern Village and enjoy the music of Better off Dead while eating something from a nearby restaurant.
Sundays in Hillsborough – Sunday, 1-5pm – Come enjoy a concert from Coleslaw, carriage rides and historic site tours at Concert Lawn in downtown Hillsborough. Tickets: $10.
