Introduction to “Becoming a Woman” – Thursday, 6pm – A illustrated talk at the Ackland Art Museum, led by Melissa Hyde, professor of art and history at University of Florida. One in a series of events for “Becoming a Woman in the Age of Enlightenment,” an exhibit that runs through April 8. Free.

Preview shows of “The Christians” and Molière’s “Tartuffe” – Thursday, 7:30pm and Saturday, 7:30pm – Playmakers Repertory Company hosts preview performances of “The Christians” and Molière’s “Tartuffe.” The two shows will run in rotating repertory for a six-week period. Tickets start at $15.

Grand Opening of CURRENT ARTSPACE+STUDIO  Friday, 11am-7pm – The CURRENT ARTSPACE+STUDIO will hold a grand opening in Carolina Square. There will be a ribbon cutting ceremony at 11 am and a campus & community open house till 7 pm. Free.

Carolina Women’s Choral Showcase – Friday, 8pm – The UNC Women’s Glee Club will perform the classical repertoire for women’s voices, as well as lighter music including folk songs, spirituals and traditional Carolina songs at the James and Susan Moeser Auditorium in Hill Hall. Tickets: $5.

Eat lce Cream for Breakfast Day – Saturday, 9am-12pm – Celebrate Eat Ice Cream for Breakfast Day at Maple View Farm with a special fundraiser menu to benefit The Preston Robert Tish Brain Tumor Center at Duke through Angels Among Us.

Whirlikids Book Festival – Saturday, 10am-4pm – Take the kids to McIntyre’s Books in Fearrington Village for a day featuring storytime, readings, book signings and more. For kids of all reading levels, ages 3 and up. Free.

No Shame Theatre – Saturday, 8pm – Hosted at The Arts Center, this monthly event gives amateur playwrights, actors and directors a chance to shine. Come at 7 p.m. with an original piece of five minutes or less, or just show up to enjoy the show. Tickets: $5.

The Monti 10th Annual Hippo Awards Saturday, 8pm – The Monti will be honoring the best stories told in the previous year and feature a full lineup of new stories by unheard voices as well as past Hippo Award winners. Tickets: $22 public, $20 students/seniors.

17th Annual Bob Marley Birthday Bash – Saturday, 8pm-12am – Celebrate Bob Marley’s birthday at Cat’s Cradle with food, local craft vendors and live reggae music. Tickets: $12 in advance, $15 at the door.

Town of Carrboro celebrates Douglass at 200  Monday, 7pm – Celebrate the 200th anniversary of the birth of Frederick Douglass at the Carrboro Century Center with presentations from James E. Williams Jr., a retired Orange County public defender; Michelle Lanier, executive director of the North Carolina African American Heritage Commission; and award-winning poet Jaki Shelton Green. Free.
