Chapel Hill native Taylor Williams met Outer Banks native Mik Lisenby at the end of their freshman year at ECU and not long after, they started dating. In October 2011, the couple went on a cruise with 40 of their family members and friends who were all let in on a little secret – Mik was going to propose during the trip. One night, while the house band played their song, I’ll Be by Edwin McCain, Mik got down on one knee.

The rehearsal dinner took place at Spanky’s. The next day, the couple said their ‘I do’s’ at University Baptist Church in front of their parents Todd and Dawn Williams, Andy Lisenby and June Thompson with sisters of the bride Meredith and Emily Williams as maids of honor.

When the wedding reception at The Carolina Club wound down, the wedding party and guests kept the party going at Top of the Hill. Around 2 a.m., Taylor and Mik headed back to their honeymoon suite at The Franklin Hotel with Mik carrying a pizza box under one arm and Taylor’s wedding train in the other. As they were walking, a police car pulled up to the curb beside them, blue lights flashing. The officer rolled down his window, got on his loudspeaker and, smiling, yelled “Congratulations” to the newlyweds. CHM
