Learn more about the life of Nina Simone, North Carolina native and ‘High Priestess of Soul,’ in PlayMakers Repertory Company’s newest play, “No Fear and Blues Long Gone: Nina Simone.” The production kicks off the PRC’s 2019-2020 season, Legacy | Now.
Jam out at the sixth annual Be Loud! ‘19 festival, a two-night event hosted at Cat’s Cradle. Bands include Chatham County Line, The Old Ceremony, Preeesh!, Greg Humphreys Electric Trio and more. All proceeds from the concert benefit the Be Loud! Sophie Foundation, which supports the adolescent and young adult cancer support program at UNC. There will also be an auction both nights with chances to win a tour of the Carolina Basketball Museum and a meal cooked in your home by Crook’s Corner retired chef, Bill Smith.
Try local beers from all over the Triangle at the third annual Brewfest at Chapel Hill Farmers’ Market. There will be free samples from breweries such as Dingo Dog Brewing Company, Honeygirl Meadery, Gizmo Brew Works and more. Even if you are not a fan of beer, there will still be the local, fresh produce.
