Virtually, Viv: Livestream with Marin Hinkle
PlayMakers Repertory Company presents a webinar with Producing Artistic Director Vivienne Benesch and actress Marin Hinkle, best known for her roles in “Once and Again” and “The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel.” The conversation will be hosted over Zoom and livestreamed on Facebook starting at 7:30 p.m. Registration is required to take part in the Q&A.
Honeysuckle Draft Experience
The Honeysuckle Cafe & Bar hosts tastings of draft wine, cider, beer and mead in its outdoor garden with head mead maker Erick Hurtado. Sessions last approximately an hour and are available from 5-8 p.m. Due to COVID-19 restrictions, tickets are limited to 15 people per hour, and masks are required when not consuming food or drink.
Movies by Starlight
The Lumina Theater continues its outdoor “Movies by Starlight” series this weekend. “A League of their Own” plays on Thursday at 8:30 p.m., and “Raiders of the Lost Ark” plays on Friday and Saturday at 8:30 p.m. Socially distant seating arrangements will be identified by 9×8 ft. pods painted on the Southern Village Green.
Virtual Art Adventures
The Ackland Art Museum brings its kid-friendly “Art Adventures” classes online via Zoom. This week, participants will create art with empowering words, inspired by the work of local artist Stacey L. Kirby. The class is limited to 15 families, and registration is required. A supply list, printable template and Zoom link will be sent to the participants. Registration for the morning session, which lasts from 10:30-11:15 a.m., can be found here, and registration for the afternoon session, which lasts from 1-1:45 p.m., can be found here.
Free Virtual Saturday Sweat Class
Chapel Hill Training continues its “Saturday Sweat” series this week with a 60-minute class starting at 10 a.m. Taught by Patricia Callison, this class features DJ music from fellow trainer Cody Johnson. Participants must register here at least two hours in advance. Although the class is free, donations are welcome for the COVID-19 employee relief fund.
Carrboro Pavilion Yoga
Eternal Moon Yoga hosts an outdoor yoga session at the pavilion in the Town Commons at 301 W. Main St., Carrboro. The hour-long session starts at 8:30 a.m. and tickets cost $10. Masks are required upon entry and exit, and participants will social distance during the session.
Virtual Village Green Music Series featuring Kirby Heard
Southern Village hosts its weekly virtual concert with American singer Kirby Heard live on its Facebook page at 7 p.m.
Bark the Vote
401 Main hosts on-site voter registration with You Can Vote. The event, which takes place from 1-5 p.m., features a photo booth, dog treats and live music from Mysti Mayhem. A portion of the proceeds from food and drink purchases will be donated to You Can Vote and the Chapel-Hill Carrboro NAACP. Additional “Bark the Vote” events will take place on Aug. 16, 23 and 30.
