Sing along to hit songs like “Mamma Mia” and “We Will Rock You” with PopUp Chorus at The ArtsCenter! From ages 8 to 75, this ensemble is a fun, minimal commitment group that puts on unique performances open to everyone. Tickets are $13 for adults and $8 for students. Doors open at 6:30 p.m.
FRIDAY
Celebrate the power of art at Wild Up’s “We the People” concert in the CURRENT ArtSpace + Studio. Following a collaborative multi-day process with students and the local community, the concert hopes to create civil dialogue between the performers and audience. The performance features music by John Lennon, Nina Simone, Louis Andriessen, Julius Eastman and a new piece of music created during that residency. Tickets are $27.
SATURDAY
Cheer on the Lady Tar Heels as they take on James Madison in a women’s lacrosse match at Kenan Stadium. Game starts at 3 p.m. and is free of charge.
SUNDAY
Support Andrew Ross in his battle against ALS at a photography exhibition and silent auction of his work at CURRENT ArtSpace + Studio. All money raised at Andrew’s Art Auction for ALS will benefit the North Carolina Chapter of the ALS Association. Pieces up for auction include over 60 framed and unframed original and pre-print images. Bidding starts at 2 p.m. Heavy hors d’oeuvres and beverages will be served.
