Weekend at a Glance
With plenty of food, art and music to go around, there’s no shortage of things to do this weekend
By Jamey Cross

THURSDAY:
Get an early start to your weekend with a special early showing of “Once Upon a Time in Hollywood” at The Lumina Theater. Instead of wallowing in sadness about The Lumina closing in September, come out and be the first to see Quentin Tarantino’s new film starring Leonardo DiCaprio and Brad Pitt.
FRIDAY:
The Hillsborough Arts Council’s Hillsborough Last Fridays Art Walk showcases the talents of local artists throughout downtown Hillsborough. For July’s walk, 12 local arts venues will open their doors for artist receptions and events, including the Thomas Stevens Gallery, Eno Gallery and Margaret Lane Gallery. Come out from 6-9pm to enjoy fine art galleries, artist studios, fine jewelers, boutiques, live music and award-winning restaurants.
SATURDAY:
Bring the kids, or bring out your inner kid, at the Free Bubble Festival at Smith Middle School. From 10am-2pm partake in bubble-popping fun as Chapel Hill Baptist hosts bubble connoisseur Grandpop Bubbles from Valley Forge, Pennsylvania.
SUNDAY:
Bring the whole family out to Root Cellar Cafe & Catering for their Family Friendly Painting Class On A Sunday Afternoon from 3-5pm. Local artist Kim Murdock teaches how to paint a tranquil scene in acrylic paint on a canvas.
