Weekend at a Glance
Much to do to celebrate dad this weekend (a lot of which are kid-friendly!)
By Hannah Lee

THURSDAY:
Pitchers of plants and pitchers of beer at dusk in the garden: it doesn’t get much better than that! Join the North Carolina Botanical Garden in the courtyard of its Carnivorous Plant Collection for Pitchers & Pitchers from 6 to 8 p.m. Conservation and horticulture staff, who research and protect these fascinating species, will share their knowledge on this one-of-a-kind plant collection. Attendees must be 21 years of age or older. Registration is required.
FRIDAY:
Bring your picnic blankets (and maybe some snacks!) for the annual North Carolina Symphony Pops Concert. The Symphony will be performing under musical director Grant Lewellyn on the Southern Village Green at 7:30 p.m.
SATURDAY:
Pay what you will – and bring the kids for free! – at Flush Fest 2019 at 711 Eno St. There’s a full lineup of musicians from noon until 9:30 p.m. There will also be a photo booth, balloon animals, bubbles, a potluck dinner at 6 p.m. and a silent film with live piano at dark. Proceeds will benefit Hillsborough filmmakers Grace Beeler and Kellen Smith, creators of the Triangle Refugee Film Project.
SUNDAY:
Come relax and inhale the sweet fragrance of lavender at Sunshine Lavender Farm‘s 16th annual Open Farm Weekend. Arrive early for a lavender latte from Apt. N Coffee and work with local artists during various workshops. And don’t forget your farmers market shopping list! Of the many things to do, there will be local vendors such as farmers from the Hillsborough Farmers Market, who will be holding a mini-market.
