Weekend at a Glance

UNC commencement and Mother’s Day brings a big crowd this weekend, and we’ve got plenty to do!

With a brand new single out, NYC psych-pop group Sound of Ceres is stopping at Cat’s Cradle Back Room for its East Coast tour. Their eclectic performances usually have an incredibly involved laser show with sounds ranging from ’60s exotica to synthesizer-adorned beats. Opener Ian Chang’s will have a live setup built around a translucent drum kit that lights up based on the way he bangs it.

Explore art venues throughout Chapel Hill, have a bite to eat and socialize at the 2nd Friday ArtWalk from 6-9pm! There will be multiple opening receptions and exhibits from The ArtsCenter to Open Eye Cafe.

Expose your children to the joy of fishing at the annual Fishing Rodeo at Blackwood Farm Park. The county will provide live bait worms and a free hot dog lunch. To give you more incentive, there will even be prizes awarded for the most creative hat, first fish caught, shortest fish and biggest fish.

Celebrate Mother’s Day right with one of the many Mother’s Day brunches going on around town (one too many to list!).
